I want to move to New Zealand because it’s culture is so diverse. It has a combination of foreign influences including, English, Scottish, Irish, American and Australian. It also has some influences from the original Maori tribes. The population of New Zealand is heavily influenced by European descendants, mainly the British and Irish. There is also a small community of Dutch and Italians which have settled into the country. The country has strong ties with the UK and is very much part of the UK commonwealth.

The actual country is split into tow main islands, the North Island and the South Island. There are also some well know smaller island around the outer side of the main islands. The economy is well developed and over the years has prospered. There is a unique social benefits system in the country which is non-contributory which means employers and employees do not have to pay into it. The benefits are means tested and there are a number of time scales for foreign nationals to adhere to such as if you wish to claim unemployment benefit you have to have been living in New Zealand for a minimum of 2 years. This is being looked at and is subject to change. There is a compulsory Accident Compensation Scheme where all employees and employers must contribute to. This is to compensate those that get injured at work.

New Zealand's health care system has been regarded as one of the best in the developed world for a long time now and it doesn’t look set to change. Once you are a New Zealand citizen you will be entitled to a range of free and subsidised services, including free hospital care. However if you want to visit your local doctor or dentist you will have to pay for this your self. This is how the government manages to pay for this excellent health care. If you are in a vulnerable group like children who require frequent healthcare or people on low incomes the government will subsidise these costs.

The country offers plenty for those thinking of moving there. With is variety of cultures, spectacular scenery, beautiful beaches and warmer climate it’s not hard to see why more and more people are leaving the UK for New Zealand. It is not the places to move to if you want to live in a fast passed and lively environment, but if you’re after a quiet life with plenty of space around you then New Zealand is the country. It is ideal for those wishing to bring their family up, the schools are very good and the prospects very high.

So if you’re thinking of moving to New Zealand I would say go for it. You will need quite a bit of money to do the actually move, so if you haven’t the funds you had better get saving. You will need to go for a medical and apply for a police check as both of these will be needed.

The most important thing like everything in life is the planning. Make sure you have done your homework and researched on all aspects of moving to the country and on the realities of living in the country. Become an expert on moving to New Zealand, read everything you can and plan plan plan.
