I believe you haven't expected to read here, that it's simple to make almost every laugh.First off, allow me to describe you why are things amusing from important neurologists side of view. When we hear something new, the brain estabilishes a new ''way'', from one neural cell to the other.

That route we call the synapse and it works, for instance, like this: Let's say we think of food, and we know that the apricots are food as well, now, the brain will create a path (synapse, which gets thicker), which wires the neural cells that store data about food and that fruit. So, in the future, while you think about food there is a great possibility to start thinking about apples. You're probably thinking, what does that have to do with me getting funnier? But, it's pretty much all about it, it's actually the way humor works.

Everything starts with you hearing a plain and common story. This is what stand-up comedians call a setup After that, you're expected to think about the given story in a certain way. What happens now is that the brain connects the setup to the punch-line you think is the best. A completely different version of the punch-line, that you have not thought of, is what will make you laugh. And in case, you don't get this, the following example will help you out.

The Setup:
What is the most satisfying thing next to being shot at and missed?
The Punch-line:
An income tax refund.

How did you feel after hearing the setup? Surely, you would've said it was either a Bosnian, Serbian or Croatian in the driver's seat. During the setup our mind was forced to think this way. And as I already said, the punch-line you read was indeed very different. This is in fact the main principle of the way humor works.

A good setup is of great importance. The best comedians will always tell you the setup in a way that will leave you with many possible punch-lines to think of. Now, the more you believe your punch-line is the best one, the more you'll laugh when you hear the real one. But if you're already familiar with the punch-line the joke won't be funny anymore as the brain won't be making any new routes.

This should prove handy in case you want to think of brand new funny jokes. When a person tells something that everyone thinks about in the same way, but you figure out an unexpected way to understand it. Now, if you tell this to others, it should be funny.
