Online forums are potentially a great help or alternatively a grand waste of time.

* You can either spend hours and hours a week at forums reading all the interesting discussions between people.

* Or you can use them to grow your business. If this sounds like what you'd like to do, remember to keep an eye on the clock.

FORUM LINKING -- HOW TO LINK FROM THE FORUM TO YOUR WEBSITE

There are loads of online forums available now. Go to Google.com and type in your topic plus the word forum, for example "acne forum" or "home schooling forum" (without the quotes) and you will find plenty of forums.

To get links back to your website or websites, choose the busy forums. These are the ones that attract the most visitors and have the most active discussions. They will usually be listed near the top of the search results.

Pick several and take a look. Like what you see? Great. Note the sort of forum signatures that disguise it.

By contributing useful comments or asking relevant questions or expressing your thanks in a contextually relevant way (not just 'Good point, thanks'), your forum post and your signature can gain visibility. And traffic back to your site!
