You’ll want to consider your shower curtain when you decorate your bathroom.
These days, you have a choice of many types and styles. They are usually made of vinyl, cloth or plastic. In today’s market, you can find hookless curtains, designer curtains and even children’s shower curtains.
In addition to providing practical functions such as privacy and water protection, shower curtains can be used to decorate the bathroom. If you’re interested in both design and water protection, opt for double-layered curtains. If you want design and protection then you should opt for two curtains: use a plastic or vinyl on the inside and layer with a cloth curtain on the outside. There are different sizes of curtains as well.
Determine the right size curtain for your shower. Most common is the standard size of 72 by 72 inches. Wider curtains will extend farther out than standard for bigger showers. Extra long curtains are recommended for children’s showers so they don’t slip out, causing leakage.
Properly installed shower curtains prevent leakage. First, make sure you have any hooks, loops or special fixtures you may need to install the curtain. Be careful when hanging the shower curtain, that you do not tear the material, since tears can cause the curtain to fall off the hooks. To avoid any accidents, a step stool is recommended.
When cleaning your curtains, use a disinfectant cleaner to remove bacteria, mold and mildew. Drying the curtain daily is recommended. Washing the cloth curtain regularly is a good idea. The curtains should be replaced after one to three years.
So, now that you know about buying, installing and washing your curtains, the choice is yours for what is best for your shower.
