People concerned with the rise of crime rate across the nation have always found reason to worry. We are talking here about personal security issues. They are issues that may well place at risk a person’s life integrity. Anyone now has access to a crime clock. It is a positive example of a place where precautions really do prove out useful. Chicago is bound to have the lowest crime rate this year since 1967. The number of murders has been the lowest in the past ten years. In addition, nine other major crimes related to violence and properties make the list of statistics, and this overall crime rate has gone down by 4.4 percent.

Domestic violence related incidents went down by almost twenty percent (a huge sign of improvement). In addition, criminal sexual assault decreased by ten percent, and crime involving violence also by ten percent.

One cannot ignore such changes, as many have labeled Chicago, at least until recently, the murder capital of America. An opposite example was New York, the nation’s biggest city judging by population. Another one, the same as New York, was Los Angeles (the second biggest) which had less than five hundred. Chicago had over six, although it only has about one third of New York’s population.

In spite of all these, the crime rate in Chicago has decreased. And if crime awareness and details as simple as a crime clock can help even big cities, imagine how much they can do for small communities in search of a safe environment.
